IF I CAN'T MASTURBATE TO IT, IT'S NOT COOL.

Natasha, 22, Montana. People are my favorite part of every day. I do a lot of things and I have many interests and someday I should make a proper "about me" page.

This is my main blog, where I follow people from. I have other blogs for my words, other people's words, and a project I did on natural variety in areolas and nipples.

You can find pictures I take on my flickr.

Here are pictures of me posted to this blog.

Do ask, Do tell.

  1. What I’ve heard from Bright Eyes is atrocious, and I don’t even like the lyrics.

    i-said-i-was-doing-fine:

This seems to be an unpopular opinion. What songs/albums should I be listening to.

I agree. They’re so incredibly boring. I think if i was forced to listen to an entire album i would kill myself.

I would listen to Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground.  BUT, Bright Eyes isn’t for everybody, and this is a fact.  Conor’s voice isn’t great, his lyrics aren’t always profound or poetic, and his musical arrangements can be unimpressive.  (Lifted is my favorite album because of the dynamic music created with a variety of instruments, including a full orchestra on some tracks.)

Bright Eyes is my favorite band.  Part of my love stems from devotion, as I first became attached at age 11 (because of the lyrics, mostly).  These days, the lyrics don’t apply as often as they used to, and certainly not in the same ways.  But in some respects, I feel as though Conor’s writing has grown up at the same time I have.  Specific albums and/or songs have somehow always surfaced for me at specific times.  I’ll link a few (from previous blog posts of mine) now.  In middle school, one was “Let’s Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and To be Loved)” In high school, one was “Ship in a Bottle”.  Shortly after high school, one was, “Weather Reports”.  Just after I started college, “No One Would Riot for Less”.  All with stories to accompany them.  My guess is that people like a lot of different musicians in this same kind of way.

Last year two friends passed away under terrible circumstances.  Two weeks prior, The People’s Key came out, and I listened to “Ladder Song” over and over while coming to terms with a lot of things.  It is a damn good song.

It’s a damn good song to me, that is.  I don’t expect everyone to like Bright Eyes.  That would be silly.  That’s why I thought to reblog this post, because I was surprised to read it.  I guess I’ve never thought of disliking Bright Eyes as an unpopular opinion…  I think sometimes you think things are unpopular but only because you’re looking in a place that’s too specific.  I mean and floral wallpaper and anime are really popular things on tumblr but not in general, right?  I don’t know.  I live in Montana, maybe I’m out of the loop.

Anyways.  While I’m on the subject I’ll put a link here about the one time I met Conor Oberst.  Obviously this became a post for people who are already fans of Bright Eyes, as well as a response to the original poster.
